2024 Groups

Christ the King1Women’s Group

The St. Thomas Women’s Group met on Tuesday May 16, with an attendance of 10.

The items discussed:

  • The 150th Anniversary celebration of St. Thomas Church will take place throughout 2024. In particular, the Women’s Group will be sponsoring a tea in late September or early October, so stay tuned for that.
  • The question of the United Thank Offering (mite boxes) was raised. Karleen Shepard will follow up.
  • Our summer project will benefit the Alle-Kiski Hope Center, which is an emergency shelter and resource for victims of domestic abuse and their children. https://akhopecenter.org/
Their wish-list is for summer items, such as children’s toys and games, bathing suits and beach towels, as well as Sheetz, GetGo, Giant Eagle, Community Market, and Walmart gift cards in $10 increments. Also,  wish-lists for Amazon and Walmart are on the Hope Center website. The Women’s Group suggests that the parish contributes summer items from early June to July and then school supplies from July to September.

On Tuesday mornings at 11:00am, a bible study is offered by the Rector. Coffee and cake are served in the Guild Room as we examine the Scriptures. Currently, we are studying the Acts of the Apostles. All are welcome.

Men’s Ministry

A men’s ministry, led by Deacon Guy Brown, meets about once each month, usually for fellowship and discussion. This new ministry is looking at different things to do and is open to all men.
