The Marriage Course

The Marriage Course is designed for couples who are already married, whether for fifty days or fifty years. It begins with a dinner, with a couple at their own table, followed by a teaching, interrupted by opportunities for the couple to discuss the issue being discussed, guided by a manual. Topics include: communication, conflict resolution, family and in-laws, expressing affection, sex, and building foundations. The course is open to anyone. Please phone the parish office for more information (412-828-9680)

Spiritual Growth for Adults

The Alpha Course began on February 3, 2010, at 6pm in the Parish Hall (although new members are allowed to join the course until March 3). Within the context of good food, a weekly joke and a completely open atmosphere of questioning, this fascinating course examines some basic questions of life: How do I overcome evil? Why and how do I pray? Does God heal today? Following each presentation, an opportunity is given within a short small group setting to ask any question or make any comment whatever. A nursery is offered whenever needed and there is no charge, although contributions to cover the cost of the food are welcome. Pre-registration is encouraged by phoning the parish office: 412-828-9680.

Beginning on the first Sunday after Lent, February 21, at 6pm, a six week course will be offered in the Parish Hall of St. Thomas Church. "Challenging Lifestyles" is a course that is based on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7). Some of the topics on Christian living it includes are: how to find the secret of happiness, how to handle anger, how to change the world around you, how to approach sex in the 21st century, how to understand the Old Testament and how to respond to divorce. The evening begins with a supper and, after the short presentation, a small group discussion is offered to respond to what has been said. A nursery can be provided for those who need it. Pre-registration is encouraged by phoning the parish office: 412-828-9680
